ANGRY FEMINIST PIN-UP

The Angry Feminist Pin Up Calendar was originally conceived of in 2015 and lasted until the pandemic destroyed calendar sales in 2020; it only existed as a publication for three years. Pin-up serves as a dynamic medium for expressing femininity in all its forms. As such, I have taken pages from the traditional pin-up tropes and spun them on their heads, recontextualizing pop iconography specifically to empower women and femme-identified people of all shapes, colors, sizes, backgrounds, and abilities. Any men involved in the project were paid at least 25% less than the non-men were. Net proceeds from the calendar sales were donated to Planned Parenthood, Safe Horizon, NOW, Battered Women’s Justice Project, and advocacy groups pushing for better litigation to protect battered survivors and to prosecute perpetrators of domestic violence. Sexy, witty, and fun, this calendar appealed to a broad (see what I did there?) audience, and hopes to inject the gestalt of empowered femmes, women, non-binary people, and minorities into the pop culture consciousness.
