Kendalle Getty: L’identification avec l’autre at ITEM IDEM

Kendalle Getty has turned the storefront of ITEM IDEM in Paris into a mirrored stage for identity, self-image and performance in L’identification avec l’autre (Identification with the Other), which opened during Art Basel Paris Week and is now on view until 14th November 2026.

Taking the Hall of Mirrors at Versailles as a point of departure, Getty transforms the gallery into a reflective environment where self-projection, estrangement and theatrical display begin to overlap.

At the centre of the exhibition is a monumental sculptural work, accompanied by engraved mirrors and newly conceived sculptures. Together, they extend Getty’s interest in self-mythology, placing sculptural self-portraits alongside altered domestic objects and decorative references drawn from French aristocratic culture.
